The series consists of 11 bowls, which complement each other with their unique, organic shapes by describing a new idea of Europe.
Considering political and social events which have brought cultures closer together or further apart, it was time for a new perspective. We dissolved the national borders of Europe and set new ones by orienting to exciting natural borders such as waters, mountains and coasts.
In addition to our main product, we developed a puzzle as an add-on that takes up the shape of the bowls. The theme „Borders in Europe“ was to be taken up playfully and educationally. We mainly worked with the laser cutter.
This project was developed within the framework of „Budenzauber“. An Advent sale where the products have to be developed and produced within 6 weeks.
process
First, we milled and sanded the maple wood to make a thermoforming mold.
Then we cast the shells from keramin. For finalizing and showing the border lines, we did a layer of green-brown colored epoxy, stickers and another layer of epoxy.
